Common Issues

Solutions to the most common problems. If your issue is not listed here, contact us directly.

The app won't start

This is usually caused by a missing permission or a conflicting process.

  1. Right-click Stillis and choose "Run as administrator".
  2. If a SmartScreen warning appears, click "More info" then "Run anyway".
  3. Check that your antivirus is not blocking Stillis.exe.
  4. Try reinstalling — download the latest version from stillis.app.

Microphone not detected

Stillis requires microphone access to listen during conversations.

  1. Open Windows Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
  2. Make sure "Microphone access" is turned on.
  3. Scroll down and allow Stillis to access the microphone.
  4. Restart Stillis after changing permissions.

Camera not detected

The camera is optional. If you want to use expression recognition, follow these steps.

  1. Open Windows Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
  2. Make sure "Camera access" is turned on.
  3. Allow Stillis to access the camera.
  4. Restart Stillis.

If you prefer not to use the camera, you can disable it in Stillis settings. Voice conversation works without it.

Update problems

Stillis does not update automatically. To update, download the latest installer from the releases page and run it over the existing installation.

Your conversation history and personal data are preserved during updates. The installer does not delete user data.

How to uninstall

Stillis can be removed through Windows Settings.

  1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find Stillis and click "Uninstall".
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

User data (conversation history, memory, voice patterns) is stored in your user folder and is not removed automatically. You can delete it manually after uninstalling.
